The Jamestown Open Carnival was held on Sunday 30th January with over 113 swimmers from all over the state representing their clubs and competing alongside 25 swimmers from Jamestown.
There were some great shows of swimming within the competition including Jamestown’s Shania Morgan who took out gold for all 3 breaststroke swims she competed in. Shania recently represented Jamestown alongside Georgia Cadzow at the SA Country Championships that were held in Renmark. At the Country Championships Shania took home 3 silvers and 2 golds swimming in her favourite stroke – the Breaststroke. She also broke 2 country records for her age group at this event.
Well done to the girls who competed at Country Championships. Georgia managed to slice off seconds on her personal best times for swimming and competed in a 50m Backstroke and a 100m Freestyle. It is a very hard meet to qualify for, and even if you don’t walk away with some hardware, you certainly can hold your head up high for just being there and being able to compete and improve times.
A highlight of the Jamestown Open Carnival was bearing witness to “The Dream Team” (comprising of Luke Heness, Jack Cadzow, Henry Cooper and Tanner Fleetwood) who won gold for in the 100m Freestyle Relay Handicap event (pictured below).
Currently Jamestown Emperors are sitting well with the scores for our Friday night competitions, and we hope to be able to continue the streak and take home a trophy or 2? this year if COVID allows.
Sadly we will be losing a couple of swimmers to Boarding School this year and we wish Sarah Cooper and Lucy Cootes all the very best in their new schools in Adelaide.
Well done emperors! Tracey Dewell
