Kingswood to Headline Award Winning Festival to raise awareness for Mental Health in Regional SA Communities

Plus THE DELTA RIGGS, ZKYE BLUE, KELLY BROUHAHA AND MORE…

Caltowie Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up is a one-of-a-kind music gathering in rural South Australia. The inaugural festival in 2019 was a limited release sell-out; highly praised by everyone, word of mouth saw the event grow with 900 festival goers descending on the rural town of Caltowie in 2021.

Each year the festival comes back bigger and stronger! 2022 will be no different with two illustrious acts, including Melbourne four-piece band Kingswood, who hit the national radar in 2014 when they received an ARIA nomination for Microscopic Wars. Since then, the band has established themselves as one of Australia’s most formidable and engaging acts performing on some of the biggest music festivals around the country, including Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Groovin’ the Moo. In 2020, Kingswood dropped their latest album Juveniles; their singles Bittersweet and Say You Remember have reached incredible heights with heavy rotation on Australian radio.

We couldn’t be more pumped to get out into beautiful regional SA and play this festival with our good buddies the mighty Delta Riggs. It’s been a long wait but we are back bigger and better than ever! We can’t wait to bring our show into town and shake it out!” – Kingswood

This year feels even more special than previous as we feature 9 South Australian independent artists showcasing a range of genres; a little bit for everyone, including Zkye Blue, Kelly Brouhaha, Critical Limit, Feed the Fire, Half Chewed Pickle, Oscar the Wild, Sycamore, Clover and Two and a Half Men.

“We all know 2020/2021 was a devastating year for the music industry. From our original inception, we have always wanted to showcase local talent, even though we have introduced two interstate acts, we feel blessed to be able to offer a platform for all Australian music” – Ben VanBoekel, Event Organiser

Caltowie Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up Music Festival is also a mental health awareness event with a goal to remove the stigma towards mental health and encourage men and women to reach out when they are not ok. This local region has experienced numerous suicides in recent years, motivating community members to become advocates for mental health awareness who are working towards lifting the stigma associated with it.

The 2021 festival was recognised at the Apex Australia National Convention and AGM, by taking out the Citizenship Initiative Award. The award recognises the work that the festival does in promoting mental health awareness in rural communities. Local projects and initiatives that have resulted from this event include creating the Secret Men’s Business group, assisting fund The Resilience Project and Growing With Gratitude programs at local schools, and helping bring Mary O’Brien of Are you bogged, mate? to speak to our community.

The event not only supports rural families through tough times on the land but supports local towns, businesses and local artists. “We aim to bring quality music to rural regions that don’t always have the opportunity to experience live entertainment. Free camping is offered to attendees means they can enjoy an affordable day out with their families from start to finish” – Ben VanBoekel, Event Organiser.

This highly anticipated Music Festival is one of a kind north of Adelaide and not only features some of the best chart topping and emerging independent artists but will also cater with a variety of SA craft beer, wine and cider, BBQ Smoked Meats and Pizza + more.
