BIGGEST MORNING TEA COVID-19 VERSION
Jamestown & District Cancer Council SA Branch held their 2020 Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser under COVID-19 conditions on Friday 29th May. Due to not being able to hold the usual Morning tea gathering, the Branch organized a take-away delivery of pre-ordered delicious food. Generous donations of food and amazing support from local businesses and a number of local residents enabled over 200 plates to be delivered, raising over $2500 for the annual Cancer Council fundraiser. Branch President, Alex Hathaway sincerely thanks everyone for their support either with ordering food, donations of food, placing food on that enormous number of plates and last but not least getting the food delivered to its destinations. As the Morning Tea was organized with restrictions in place and in a short timeframe it wasn’t able to be advertised widely however it is possible that future BMT events will be organized in a similar format, and with more time to prepare, a greater number of people could participate. The next fundraiser for the Cancer Council Branch will be the annual Daffodil Day in August, but how that will take place is anyone’s guess at the moment so ‘watch this space’.
