With the last Bundaleer Festival held in 2013, Bundaleer born Mary-Jane Hendry and her fellow musicians have decided it is time to bring music back to the beautiful Bundaleer picnic grounds for the 2022 Adelaide Fringe.
Making the most of the fabulous new venue Maple & Pine, there will be two nights of great music echoing through the trees for two nights only, Friday March 4 and Saturday March 5.
First on stage on Friday March 4 at 6.30 pm will be Burra born acoustic artist Caitlin Drew, a small-town girl with a great big voice.
Caitlin’s repertoire includes soft acoustic rock, contemporary pop, country, folk and gospel which has her in demand for festivals across Australia.
Around 8 pm, seven-piece ensemble MJ & The Progression will hit the stage, performing songs from artists such as David Bowie and The Beatles, through to Nirvana & Ed Sheeran.
All the music is “Shaken and Stirred” to create a fantastic cocktail of Swing, PopJazz, and Funk.
Described as Great Gatsby on steroids, MJ & the Progression consists of a three-piece brass section, Andrew Vince, David Fletcher and Steve Turner; Stephen Stone on guitar, David Bentley on upright bass, with Tom Stehlik on drums, and vocals from our own Mary- Jane (MJ) Hendry.
Saturday night will see Along Comes Mary singing all their favourite songs from the 50s, 60s & 70s, complete with sherry, games and their unique interactive style of entertainment.
Mary-Jane Hendry (vocals), Marianne Loftus (vocals), & Stephen Stone (guitar), first came together as Along Comes Mary for Adelaide Fringe a decade ago, and for the last 4 years they have been joined by David Bentley (bass) & Tom Stehlik (drums).
Born and raised in Bundaleer, Mary-Jane is hoping people will embrace the return of music to the incredibly special space at the Bundaleer picnic grounds.
She says Maple & Pine promises to be a fabulous venue for the Fringe events, a perfect outdoor setting on the lovingly tended lawns.
MJ & The Progression’s event titled “Shaken & Stirred” is being held on Friday March 4.
Along Comes Mary’s event “Happy Together” will be on Saturday March 5.
Both events kick off at 6.30pm with licenced bar and food available.
