Ralph Holmes was born in Port Pirie and enjoyed life living in Telowie Gorge, Beetaloo Valley, Gladstone, Loxton, Berri and Adelaide where, after a long career with the Electricity Trust, he and Dorothy retired and enjoyed travel within Australia and overseas. In later years they moved to Laura and discovered that their new residence was the cottage where Dorothy (nee Bottrall) was born in 1920. Ralph and Dorothy moved to Belalie Lodge in Jamestown in 2012 and sadly, after 72 years of happy marriage, Dorothy passed away. Ralph still lives at Belalie Lodge and is happy to call it home. He will be celebrating his 100th birthday on Saturday 13th June but how family and friends will celebrate with him on that day is dependent on the COVID-19 situation. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Queensland, Finland and Laura will certainly be sharing the milestone with him in a variety of ways.
