Hat Trick Win for Swim Club

What a ripper 2023/24 Season it was for the Jamestown Emperors Swimming Club. We finished the season off with 80 registered Swimming SA swimmers and 10 Squids swimmers training under the guidance of our very brilliant, and very patient coaches Adrian Dewell, Shane Heness, Jessie Hammat and Nicole Downing.

The lovely new pool upgrades included a concrete section added to the shallow end of the pool for starting blocks and re-fibre glassing of the pool interior and coping. Thanks to Bob Case and crew for the concreting, Shane Heness for overseeing the work and grant writing, and a big thank you to the Northern Areas Council for the fibreglass work. The Pool looked amazing and the blocks at both ends of the pool made our carnivals lots of fun and much easier for time keepers.

Successes stretched throughout the season with some incredible swims at open carnivals, including the Crystal Brook Open Carnival where Luke Heness came 1st and Jake Hogan came 2nd in the 10 and Under Dash for Cash. The overall representation by Jamestown swimmers at Open Carnivals this season was exceptional. The largest groups we’ve had represent the club in recent history.

To cap the season off the club was victorious for a 3rd year in a row winning all 4 shields and overall in the Upper North Competition. We didn’t always win every Friday night, but our consistency paid off. We would like to thank the Upper North Competition committees and swimmers for such a wonderful 2023/24 season. Season Point Results:

Finally Adrian and myself would like to thank the committee, swimmers and parents for the honour of receiving life membership on Friday 15th March at our final Friday night competition. It was truly unexpected. I have been on the committee since 2011 starting out as a general member and then nominations officer and now the Club President for the last 4 years. Adrian has been coaching for 10 years and is highly regarded for his work with the kids. Together we have passionately poured our time into supporting the swimming club, building it up from the Jamestown Stars into the Jamestown Emperors with the guidance of our swimmers and committee. The club has reached new heights and grows ever more stronger as each season begins. If you’ve never considered swimming as a choice for your Summer sport, it is time to look closely, as we are certainly making some serious waves here in Jamestown.

Thanks again from Adrian & Tracey Dewell

Thanks also to all our 2023/24 Season Sponsors!
