How’s That Maggie!

Since the printing of the last Journal, Maggie Clark’s exceptional performances with the Australian team in the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa has been rewarded with her being named in the Team of the Tournament. She was the only Australian to be named reflecting her performances with the ball, where she was the leading wicket taker of the Tournament with 12 wickets at an average of 6.25, achieved in five matches, after not being selected for the first match against Bangladesh, which Australia lost.

Her best figures of 3-15 came in the semi-final against England, who only scored 99, however Australia were bowled out for 96, and missed the final won by India. Her fielding throughout Tournament was also of a high standard, reflected in a run out of a USA player from Maggie’s superb throw from the deep to the wicket-keeper – not bad at 15 for the youngest member of the team.

A bit of nostalgia: Her grandfather Franz Clark, a wicket-keeper batsman, was a stalwart of the Mannanarie Cricket Club and Belalie Cricket Association in the 1950’s and 60’s, often captaining Association teams in inter Association matches.
