JAMESTOWN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION CHRISTMAS COMPETITIONS 

JDA held three competitions in 2023 to celebrate the Christmas Season- A Christmas Tree competition on Pageant Day, Best Decorated Business Window Display and Jamestown Lights up the Town Residential Display. A great community celebration for our town which drew many spectators. The Christmas Tree competition was won by Finn Noll Wong who decorated a tree with names of the dogs she has groomed! Highly commended were St James School R/1 class with folded stars and Jamestown Early Learning Centre with a tree made from recycled materials. The Uniting Church were also highly commended. The table centrepiece was won by Yvonne Woidt from Jenny Hall who was highly commended. Christmas in a shoe box Adult Section was won by Finn Noll Wong with the Probus Club highly commended. Charlotte Simpson and Zoe Kelly won the Junior Section with Rosie Richmond, Elke Clark and Indy Farr receiving commendations. In the Senior Section Alexis Farr/ Ellie Andrews were the winners while boxes by Frankie Heness/Penny Wrobel, Harriet Stacey/Sadie Redden and Hugh Sutter/Hugh Thomson/ Ethan McCarthy were highly commended. Thanks are due to judges Veronica Malone and Lynne Williams and to donors of vouchers for winners from Evergreen, the Bakery and Wild with Style. Thanks also to Shellie’s Shoes for supplying boxes. First prize in the Christmas Window display was Glasgow House (eastern windows) decorated by Phillipa and Bev. The $500 prize, donated by Apex, will be used towards air conditioning for the Magic Cave and 2024 decorations. Tina Leesong designed the second placed Leesong Electrical display which won $300 donated by the Pageant committee. Third prize was awarded to Hair on Ayr Body Café. Bree, Erin, Cate and Belinda were so pleased to win that they donated the $200 prize from the Pageant committee to the Cancer Council. The Jamestown Lights up the Town competition was won by Shannon Fielding of 4 Dublin Street with Ian and Kaye Jaeschke runners up. Prizes were donated by the Lions Club. JDA thanks all participants for their efforts and looks forward to Christmas 2024.
