Mid North SPN to host Unique Event…

With support from Preventative Health SA and Neoen Energy, the Mid North SPN presents a rare opportunity to hear three high-quality speakers on different topics of mental health and wellbeing. TICKETS WILL BE LIMITED.

This is an event focused on all age groups and genders with the opportunity to speak directly with the speakers at the conclusion of presentations.

Stuart O’Neill STAY WITH US

Based on Stuart’s lived experience with deep depression and multiple suicide plans, Stuart began to realise each time he was almost at the end, that he always found a reason to live. A pattern continued whereby it became noticeable to him that having Just One Reason was enough to get him through his darkest moments.

This pattern seeded the concept of Just One Reason as a suicide survival toolkit. Based entirely on his lived experience Stuart wrote Just One Reason with several strategies in play for the book to be very user friendly.

Dr Alice Bennett EAT WELL

A rural based gastroenterologist and hepatologist working in private practice in the Mid North of South Australia.

Her expertise extends across a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions including bowel cancer screening, liver disease, oesophageal motility disorders and functional gut disorders, and she has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Trillions of microorganisms live in your gut, making up your gut microbiome. These microbes play a vital role in digestion and absorption of nutrients but also influence your metabolism, immune system and brain function. The brain-gut pathway is a bidirectional communication avenue between these systems; so not surprisingly evidence does suggest that your gut microbiome can affect your mood!

Marc Ryan – The Beautiful Bogan LAUGH A LOT

Marc Ryan is an Adelaide Comedian better known as The Beautiful Bogan, he has been performing stand-up comedy around Australia for the last 10 years.

He has had various 4 and 1/2-star reviews from The Adelaide fringe shows he has written, and he has performed alongside the likes of Wil Anderson, Adam Hills, Dave Hughes, Fiona O’Loughlin, plus he toured New Zealand as the support act for American comedian Kevin Tate.

However, over the last 4 years Marc has been on a mission to use his lived experience of mental illness (PTSD, Depression and Anxiety) he created his own epic tour, The Beautiful Bogan vs The Black Dog, which entailed 30 gigs in 30 days, from mining camps, to a local church, a boxing gym, a skate ramp and many more crazy locations.

All of this was to normalise the conversation around mental health and to let men know that they are not alone in their struggles. In recent times Marc has delivered his message of hope in the face of darkness to drought affected communities on Eyre Peninsula and fire ravaged towns on Kangaroo Island.

Marc is not afraid to get vulnerable and open up about his personal demons if it means he can help another man or woman who does feel alone. His mission is to change one life at a time. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear presentations from 3 outstanding speakers on different topics plus a tasty winter meal and FREE publication of Stuart O’Neill’s Just One Reason book.
