The Northern Areas Tennis Association Grand Final was held on Saturday 25th March at the Jamestown Lawn Tennis Club. With the sun shining, a fantastic day of outdoor sport and spectating took place. Juniors & Seniors had a staggered start, ensuring matches finished together for the end of season presentations, tea and celebrations.
Congratulations to the 2022/2023 Premiership Teams
A Grade – Caltowie defeated Uniting Church (13-9 sets)
B Grade – St James defeated Bundaleer (12-10 sets)
Juniors – Diadora defeated Wilson (6-3 sets)
A number of significant awards were presented on Grand Final Day.
Congratulations to Joyce Jacka on receiving Life Membership of the Jamestown Lawn Tennis Club. Joyce’s contribution to tennis has been phenomenal. Some of her key achievements include:
Started playing A Grade at the age of 14 years on the Methodist Courts (pre the lawn courts) as Joyce Downing
Runner-up Closed Singles
W.E.M Staker Trophy for Association Best & Fairest
9 x Premiership Player for Uniting Church
Tennis player for many years
All of these achievements followed by an astronomical 42 years as Association Score Recorder!
We thank Joyce wholeheartedly for her continued dedication and service to tennis in our association.
Ted Mason Service Award presented to David Klingner and Adrian McCarthy. Congratulations to these two worthy winners, who are regulars on committees, at weekly tennis, working bees, association days and Easter. We thank them both for their voluntary contribution.
Debbie Smart Memorial Trophy for the Best U17 Male & Female – Patrick Sutter & Ruby Sutter.
This special award is voted by senior players and based on tennis ability and on-court demeanour. Congratulations Patrick and Ruby on another great season of tennis.

Thank you to everyone involved in the 2022/2023 Tennis Season. We are incredibly fortunate to have a significant number of volunteers who contribute to our association in several ways including committee members, team captains/coordinators, grounds people, volunteers in the kitchen and bar as well as players, supporters and spectators.
The Jamestown Easter Tennis Tournament is the next major event on the tennis calendar, taking place from Friday 7th through until Sunday 9th April. Everyone is welcome to join us for a fantastic weekend of tennis.
