On Sunday 3rd April Northern Areas Seniors competed against a team of 24 City Seniors for the Brian Pink Shield at the Jamestown Courts. Northern Areas won 34 sets (327 games) to City 26 sets (277 games)-a comprehensive win! The Northern Areas team players come from a wide area- Port Augusta, Whyalla, Clare, Laura, Barossa Valley, Moonta, Port Pirie, Orroroo, Saddleworth, Peterborough and Crystal Brook as well as Jamestown. Players come to Jamestown to enjoy playing on the lawn courts, followed by a barbecue tea, fortnightly from October to May. Seventy two players have competed during the season. The group started in 1988. Current officers are president Twink Sparks, secretary Anne Redden and treasurer Reece Brooks. Another highlight of the season was the presentation of life membership to Reece Brooks for over twenty years service as treasurer Well done Reece. Anyone aged over 30 is welcome to join. The oldest players are over 8o! All welcome.
