June was a busy month for the Silver to Sea Way in Jamestown!
We started off at the Jamestown Community School, working with the 5/6s to create mini-museum displays based on historic images of Jamestown. We had great fun working with the students and were very impressed by their creativity! In addition to the school, thanks must go to members of the Jamestown National Trust Branch who provided the source images and listened to the students present their finished displays.
The following week, Bridgette and Pat joined Sue and Catherine from Sue Hodges Productions at the Jamestown Bakery, where Sue facilitated a workshop on local tourism success factors and storytelling. Well-attended, the workshop revealed what an incredible set of stories Jamestown has to tell – to name a few, we heard about the importance of the railway, the area’s agricultural background, the longevity of the Jamestown Show, as well as the unique nature of the Bundaleer Forest. Over the coming months, we’ll be working closely with the community to incorporate these stories (and more) into various tourism experiences along the Silver to Sea Way and in the town.
