A BIG Thank you to the community of Jamestown area that supported the Jamestown Flying Group’s sausage sizzle on February 1st or donated in our donation tins around Jamestown.
When a pilot that flew in our 2015 Air Spectacular – Dick Lang and his son died in the fire at Kangaroo Island the Jamestown Flying Group felt compelled to do a fund raiser for the people of Kangaroo Island. Dick Lang was an experienced adventurer, tour operator and bush pilot, and his son, Clayton, was a well-respected plastic surgeon in Adelaide. Our sincere condolences go to anyone that was affected by the fires around Australia.
We decided to hold a sausage sizzle and trading table and to make donation tins available. We were surprised and amazed that we raised $1,500 for the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund.
We had old club member from Adelaide – Malcolm Axford and a pilot that drove up from Freeling, due to the bad weather for flying – Jeff Schuster. The event was heavily supported by the members of the Jamestown Flying Group as a great social afternoon.
Thanks again for all of our supporters.
